As the Favre Turns

Is Brett Favre finally out of the limelight? Will the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Travel & Tourism Bureau have to find alternate means to attract people to their town?

The short answer is no. Not at least for the next five years. Rest assured that although Favre will not be a Viking this season, does not mean that he will not be a Jaguar or a Redskin or a Raider in the future.

In fact, I fully expect that for the next several years we will hear rumors regarding Favre returning to some team, and much like a politician who is asked about raising taxes, he will not give an unequivocal response. Don't let there be a team in playoff contention who loses their marquee quarterback during the season. At this point, you know Favre will be discussed, and I would expect him to come back for this. It is the perfect scenario for him.

Consider if the Cowboys are 7-2-0 and leading the NFC East, and Tony Romo became injured. Do you honestly think that Favre would not enter the conversation?

So, until Favre is completely incapable of playing football, he will continually be in the conversation for some team who needs help at the quarterback position. Who knows? You might see a 50 year-old quarterback.
